Competitions & Awards

In 2011, our school was represented by Darryl Connell and Clodagh. They did very well with their project.

In 2010, 3 fifth year girls from the College, were highly recommended for their investigation into 'The Psychological Effects of Moving from Primary to Secondary school. Meg Connell, Kirsty Simms and Sharon Lucey used a standardised questionnaire to discover how students cope emotionally with the experience of their first year in second level.
Judges complimented the team for their presentation of the project, and also commended the interest and enthusiasm shown by the students in their research.

Transition year students, Stephanie O'Regan, Lucy Hunt and Katie O'Donoghue were awarded third place for their investigation into "The Efficacy of two Co-operative Learning Strategies in Supporting Students with Different Learning Styles.
Stephanie, Katie and Lucy found, that, overall, co-operative learning was more effective than individual learning, and that students greatly enjoyed the experience of working together in carefully structured co-operative groups and pairs.

Judges at the RDS praised the excellent work and beautiful presentation of the girls' written report and visual display, and they also complimented the Schull Students on the "informative and lively discussions" that they enjoyed with them.
