Wendy Smith Poetry Awards
Competitions & Awards
The Wendy Smith Poetry awards came into being in 1993, as a tribute to a teacher at Schull Community College who, during her years here, had shared her love of literature and of learning with her students.
When Wendy died in April 1992, it seemed fitting to commemorate her with some event that would allow students to express themselves creatively.
The poetry awards welcome primary school enteries from Lisheen to Kilcrohane and post-primary entries from the students in the college.
The awards will be presented during the college Open Evening on Monday Jan 31st 2011. The awards will be judged by Tony Barry, ex director of Drama at RTE
