Schull Community College

For the last number of years, our school has collected the christmas shoe boxes for the organisation Samaratians purse. In 2007, the school made over 100 boxes. Thank you to all the students and teachers.

Again in 2008, the college supported Skibbereen's efforts at collecting over 5,000 boxes, all of which are going to the Ukraine.
The students get a shoe box and cover it with christmas paper. They then fill it with items such as toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, soft toy, colouring equipment and any thing that they think the children will like. The boxes are taken to Skibbereen, where Sally Daly is the co-ordinator for the area. She collects the boxes and rings the organisation. They send down an articulated truck, which is filled up and driven to Eastern Europe for distribution.
