SAILING NEWS FOR 2012/13

Fionn Lyden received the sailing award for the college 2012, because of his successes in sailing in the last few months.
He won the Silver medal in the Senior Open Helsman Championships in Lough Derg. Fionn was the youngest contender in the competition and sailed an outstanding regatta, leading into the final day of the competition with his crew of Darragh Mc Cormack and David Harte. In the end the fifth year student beat off two Olympians to claim the silver. Fionn was invited to compete in this competition, having won the prestigious ISA Junior All Ireland Sailing Championship in September, with crew member Anna O'Regan.







The college has it's own Sailing centre www.fastnetmarineoutdooreducationcentre.ie
Students are encouraged to sail in first year and fourth year as part of their school activities.
There is a student group who have a sailing club and are very successful in international competitions.
The sailing centre has it's own PLC course and the students take sailing as one of their subjects.
