In 2009, the Minister of Education, Mr Batt O Keeffe visited the school and presented the annual awards to the students of Schull Community College. While delivering his speech, the Minister congratulated the college on the broad and balanced education it provides. The Minister also stated that he was honoured and privileged to witness the awards ceremony, which he said, reflected the remarkable ethos and spirit of Schull Community College

In 2005 the Ambassador of Lesotho was the guest speaker at the prize giving, while 2006, the school hosted members of the munster rugby team. In 2007 Alan Crosbie of the Examiner group came to the prizegiving. Also on the night, Alan raised the green flag.Many of the prize winners are in the following pictures. Student of the year was Katie O'Donnell, who is now studying in England. Best Leaving Certificate was Laura Ugar and Best Junior Certificate was Laura Reaney. The audience were entertained by the school choir and Eleanor Fields sung beautifully for us also.
In 2008 Mr.Brian Crowley MEP, officiated over the award ceremony for the school on November 14th. David Barnett was a very popular "Student of the Year" and Mr. O'Connor wished him all the best in his new course of study in C.I.T with Nautical Engineering.
