Planetarium

Schull Planetarium and Observatory are on the grounds of the college and students are encouraged to participate and develop an interest in astronomy through lectures and related activities. An active astronomy club is run by college students.
The Planetarium, which is part of the college campus, is the first of it's kind anywhere in the republic of Ireland. It was officially opened on March 9th,1989, by his Excellency, the President of Ireland, Dr. Paddy Hillery.
The observatory is a recent addition to the campus. In 2002, 5 students took on the project as part of the Bollinger award scheme, where a project was selected in the area for which funding would be provided by Mr. Bollinger. He has supported many projects in the Schull/Ballydehob area and we are all thankful for that.
