1. Boys U 18 basketball team beat Bantry
Girls U 14 and U 16 basketball was played in the college.
2.Teachers from Lesotho visited the school
3.Amnesty group started their campaign to raise public awareness of its aims. Every second week, they are selling tea/coffee and fairtrade/amnesty chocalate.
4.Amnesty organised a Halloween Fancy Dress gig in the school, where our own bands played for the last 2 classes of the term and raised money for the Lesotho and HOPE campaign.
5. A group of students headed off, with their teacher Nicola Mc Cormick, to their exchange school in Germany.
6. Boy's soccer U 16 team played recently.
7. The Transition year students, went on work experience, in various places around the Mizen peninsula and we are grateful to all businesses who participated in the project.
8. Last year, the 5th year Student Council members; Peadar O'Suilleabhain, Molly O'Mahony and Catrina O'Regan competed on behalf of Schull Community College in the national Euroscala Competition-A model European Parliament held in Dublin Castle. Thirty schools nationwide participated in the event, each representing a different country of the European Union. Each school presented an A3 project either opposing or proposing the motion "Alcohol Advertising and Sponsorship should be banned from Sport". A debate was held in the conference hall, where each country contested their argument. An overall vote was held and the motion was denied. Throughout the day, adjudicators took note of each country's arguments and evaluated each schools' project. After a short recess for lunch, the overall winners were announced. The students of Schull Community College won the event and are now looking forward to their trip to the European Parliament of Strasbourg, where they will take part in further discussions on topical European issues, along with competition winners from every other European Country.
9. Our 2 debating teams are through to the second round of the U.C.C. school debating competition, which is sponsored by the Philosophical Society of U.C.C. The first team is represented by Kristina Wieneke and Orla O'Regan and the second team are Mike Whitty and David O'Sullivan.
10. The new Student Council members have been elected and their names are on that web page.
11. The German department recently had a language assistant from Flensburg in Northern Germany. Hannes Klotz spent six weeks at the college on work experience. Full details on the German page.
12. We also had 2 Spanish teachers in the college, on work experience in Science and Maths.
13.All 5th years went on a careers options exhibition in the Rochestown Park hotel as part of their LCVP
14. 6th year Ag Science went to a dairy farm
15. 6th year Geography went to INFF centre, Manch Ballineen for their fieldwork coursework.
16. There was a Lesotho Links review in the college, with members of the committee, examining the project so far.
