1.What a super performance of music, dance and drama that was put on by the transition years, first and second years for the Christmas Concert entitled "Reeling in the Years"! Well done to all!
2. 5th year French students went to Cork to see a movie on January 16th.
Following the success of last year's Cork French Film Festival, the Briary Gap theatre in Macroom screened "Comme une Image". The film proved popular with all the schools proving that French Film is not all gloom and doom!. This screening marks the 3rd year of a partnership between the Irish film Institute and the French Teachers Association of Ireland.
3.The senior boys basketball are in the county final

4.Our Schull Athletics club participated in the West Cork League on 3 separate days --Dunmanway,Schull & Beara. 2nd Year boys received a team silver prize, 3rd boys won team silver and also the senior girls won team silver. Tresa Ni Shuilledhan came first in Beara, while Yvonne Johnson came first in Schull & Bears. John O'Callaghan came second in Senior boys. The team are now training for the Munster and All Ireland hill running in Feb & March.

5.Three quiz teams were in action this month representing the school in UCC, DCU and Irish Examiner table quiz.

6. On
Thursday, 17 January the fourth, fifth and sixth years travelled to the Briery Gap, Macroom, to watch a German language film by Munich based director, Christian Wagner, whose list of war-themed films includes Ghettokids and Waller’s Last Trip. The film was Stille Sehnsucht (literally ‘silent longing’), but was aptly titled Warchild for English audiences.

7.The fourth years also gave a fantastic performance of their hit christmas show in the Briary Gap in Macroom. They now qualify for the semi final of the Munster Drama competition. The group came up with the idea for the play themselves and 'work shopped' it into a performance. "Big Brother through Time" deals with the monotony of the recurring themes that reality TV shows have been bringing to our homes in recent years. The play took a humorous approach which showed the same performance through the ages differentiated by use of movement, voice and costume. Well done 4th years!
8.Two second year UCC students of PE and sports science were involved in teaching PE, giving career talks and training of football in the school.
9.Transition year students and senior cycle students have been swimming and gyming at the new Harbour Hotel leisure centre.
10.Following on from their recent visit to an exhibition at the Lewis Gluicksman Gallery in Cork, a group of 5th and 6th year students travelled to Dublin to visit the National Art Gallery and the National Museum. The Students saw the Tara brooch, the Ardagh Chalice, the Broighter Collar along with many other examples of Early Christian Metalwork.

11. Kathy Kirwan gave a presentation at the launch of "Action for Life" Junior Cert PE module. Tony Sheehan attended an inservice for the new PE course.

12. A group of 2nd Year Irish students travelled to the Library in Bantry to get expert advice on how to make St. Bridget crosses.

13.5th Years went on a visit to the L.E. AISLING as part of their Enterprise Education Module
