Grace Lenihan teach's Junior Certificate Home Economics. The subject is offered to all first years and then it is a choice subject for the Junior Certificate examination.
At Leaving Certificate level, it is called Home Economics ( Social and Scientific)

The subject is both an academic and practical subject. To assist in the development of the practical skills and methodology, design briefs have been incorporated into the text. These design briefs also enable students to evaluate their own work.

The revised Junior Certificate Home Economics course includes 5 core areas namely;
1. Food Studies
2. Social and Health Studies
3. Consumer Studies
4. Resource management and Home studies
5. Textiles

The revised Leaving Cert Home Economics course includes 3 core areas namely;
1. Food Studies
2. Resource Management and Consumer Studies
3. Social Studies
It also includes an elective area of study eg: Home design and Management.

At Leaving Cert level students also have the opportunit to account for 20% of their marks by completing a practical journal.
