5. The girls basketball team went all the way to the All Ireland Semi Finals in Tipperary recently. The team of first years were fantastic and won their game against Presentation Convent Clonmel with a score of 32-17. When it came to the next match, they clashed with Holy Family Newbridge and again won 24-12. Later they also beat Monaghan's Inver College, on a nail biting score of 17-21.
The semi final clash between the College and Presentation Clonmel was full of tension with scores levelling and many outstanding performances by our girls. However, they were finally beaten by Presentation Clonmel with a score 18-23. Hard Luck to all the team and their coach Tony Sheehan.

6.The German Exchange students had a busy week in the college, with numerous trips out, sailing, kayaking, visiting heritage sites and staying with their families. A more detailed account of their week is in the German Exchange link.

7.All the first years went to the Outdoor adventure centre in Oysterhaven on 11th April. This piece is written by Heather O'Leary 1B

"The magnificent double decker bus left the College at 8:00am, only stopping in Ballydehob and Skibbereen to pick up students.
With the company of our friends, the journey was short, and we soon pulled into the centre. After a quick introduction and explanation of the rules, we were divided in half, with one half going on the Sea Adventure first, while the other went on the Land Adventure.

On the land adventure, we first played games in pairs and teams, before heading into The Island, where we had to complete challenges to win points for our team. These challenges included rafting, rope swinging, and an obstacle course! By the end of it, we were pleasantly mud-covered and quite a few were wet too.

On the Sea Adventure, we played many water sports, such as kayaking. Despite the chill in the air, we had an absolutely fantastic day. It was about 6:30 when we got back. It was brilliant, and everyone, teachers included, had a lot of fun and we are now begging the teachers to allow us to go there again!

8.Great news for our sailors! 5 students and 1 past pupil are in a team which has qualified as the U 21 team to represent Ireland in the Team Racing World Championships 2009 in Perth Australia. They attended the qualifiers in the Royal St.George Yacht Club Dun Laoighre, racing against college teams from all over the country.
Well done to our team of

9.One of our leaving certificate students has been one of 10 students choosen for the new Batchelor of Voice and Dance course in the University of Limerick. Eleanor Fields (6th year) will join the course in September to discover and learn about the different sounds and progressions, which can be made with the human voice. All types of songs will be studied eg:chants.
Likewise with dance, students will learn about the different movements and shapes the body can make, and how to make both elements work together. An audition is necessary for the course. So good luck Eleanor!

10. After a great days sailing, with 10 teams participating, this years National Team Racing Championships were completed in Crosshaven. Representatives from Leinster and Connaught competed with the Munster representatives in the early day's racing. However, a Munster team made it through to the Semi finals. Both Schull Teams battled successfully with Kinsale Community School and Crosshaven Community School for final places, where Schull I defeated Schull II to become All-Ireland Team Racing Champions.
