Agricultural Science
Subjects
Agricultural Science is offered to the Senior cycle as an optional Science subject, for those from farming backgrounds who will carry on the farming business but also by students interested in plants and animals generally.
The subject involves the following topics:
- Soil Science
- Sheep
- Pigs
- Dairy
- Beef
- Potatoes
- Maize
- Beet
- Grassland and Silage production
- Plant biology
- Human Biology
- Insect and plant Kingdom
- Genetics
- REPS
All students have a project to complete which goes towards 25% of their leaving certificate grade!
The students have to experience two plants and one animal in their work. They also have practicals in all areas, which is presented at their interview in 6th year.
